DSWD, LGUs release over P1.1 billion worth of assistance for 'Florita' victims
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and local government units in Northern Luzon and the National Capital Region (NCR) so far released P1,113,000,466 worth of assistance for families affected by severe tropical storm Florita.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, Aug, 24, DSWD Undersecretary Marco Bautista said that distraught families in communities, as well as those in evacuation centers from Regions 1, 2, 3, Cordillera Administrative Region, and NCR, benefitted from the said amount.
"Nagbigay din ang LGU a total of P82,000, kasama po ito sa mga food packs po ntin, mga hygiene kits, tska clothing, kitchen kits sa mga evacuation centers po natin (The LGU also gave a total of P82,000, this is intended for the food packs, hygiene kits, clothing, and kitchen kits in the evacuation centers)," Usec Bautista added.
According to him, 2,213 families or 7,616 individuals from these regions were distressed by the typhoon and preemptive evacuation was enforced for those residing in flooded areas.
Six hundred twenty families from NCR were evacuated, he added.
"So far umaalis na po sila sa evacuation center at umuuwi na po sila sa mga kani-kanilang bahay (So far, they are already leaving the evacuation center and are returning to their homes)," Usec Bautista said.
No flash floods were reported as of the moment, he continued.
Meanwhile, DWSD Secretary Erwin Tulfo stated that they are monitoring the flooding situation in Mindanao brought by monsoon rains.
Four families in Sarangani province lost their homes due to flash floods and DSWD Regional Office XII is set to give each of the families P10,000 worth of cash assistance through the department's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program.
