SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Department of Public Works and Highways-La Union First District Engineering Office has completed two flood control projects on the Amburayan River in Bangar, this province.
District Engineer Jose G. Ginete Jr. said the two projects are located in two barangays.
A 409-meter long and five-meter high concrete dike and revetment was constructed on the riverbank of Barangay Mindoro.
A 403-meter linear meter concrete dike was finished and will benefit Barangays Consuegra and Alzate. The structure will prevent erosion of riverbanks and water overflow.
According to Ginete, these two flood control structures were built to suppress the high water level of Amburayan River, thus, protecting the residents and properties near the river.
