COP, eight others relieved after shooting incident involving two cops in Nueva Vizcaya checkpoint
NUEVA VIZCAYA -- Police are investigating a shooting incident involving two policemen that happened at a checkpoint on Tuesday evening, Aug. 23, in Purok 2, Brgy. Bakir, in Bagabag town here.

According to a police report, Police Corporal Jomar Puhay, 36, and PMaster Sergeant Jefferson Bartolome, 43, allegedly had a misunderstanding which prompted the latter to shoot the former.
The incident transpired at about 11:55 p.m. inside a makeshift kitchen in the border control point in Purok 2, Brgy. Bakir, Bagabag at the height of typhoon Florita.
Patrolman Christian Manibug heard the gunshot which prompted him to check.
He saw Corporal Puhay lying unconscious on the ground with a gunshot in the head, while MSgt Bartolome fled to an unknown direction.
Puhay was rushed by Bagabag ambulance to Regional 2 Trauma Medical Center Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Jason Bautista.
While the authorities were in hot pursuit, about 5:35 a.m. a certain Dr. Eric Dugong, 42, discovered in his backyard PMSgt Bartolome lying dead on the ground with a gunshot wound in his mouth.
Both Puhay and Bartolome were members of the Bagabag Police, but the latter was detailed at 1st Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Mobile Force Company (NVPMFC) Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya and a resident of Poblacion East, Lamut, Ifugao.
Police Provincial Director Col. Ranser Evasco has ordered the relief of the Chief of Police of Bagabag, and eight others including team leader and members of the Border Control Point after a shooting incident.
Police Maj Romeo Barnachea of Bagabag PNP will be transferred to the Police Provincial Office of Nueva Vizcaya.
