13-year-old boy goes missing on 1st day of F2F in Trece Martires, Cavite

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – A Grade 8 student went missing on Tuesday, Aug. 23, the first day he was supposed to attend face-to-face classes in his school.

Joena Quezon said they dropped off her son, Bobby Quezon Jr., in his school before his class at 12:30 p.m.

"Kahapon po ang first day niya dahil alternate 'yung pasukan diyan. Okay naman po, 'nung pumasok siya, masaya naman siyang pumasok (Yesterday was their first day of classes because they have alternate on-site class schedules. He was okay, he was happy to go to school)," Joena told the Manila Bulletin.

The school's CCTV footage showed the 13-year-old boy entering the school at 12:25 p.m. and going up the stairs to look for his classroom.

However, the footage showed Bobby going out of the school at 12:35 p.m.

"Umikot-ikot siya 'dun kasi hinanap niya 'yung room niya. 'Nung hindi niya makita 'yung room niya, lumabas siya nang gate (He was going around, looking for his classroom. When he did not find it, he went out of the gate)," Joena said.

When classes were suspended at 2:30 p.m. due to the storm, Bobby's older sister went to pick him up from school but he did not show up.

At 6:00 p.m., Joena posted on Facebook, asking netizens to contact them in case they saw her son. The family also went around their area to look for the boy.

"Wala naman kasi kaming lead na barkada niya kasi hindi naman pala-barkada 'yung anak ko, tahimik lang 'yun (We do not have any leads because he is not very friendly, he is quiet)," Joena said.

The family also does not have any means to contact the boy as he left his cellphone at home.

"Ipinagbawal din kasi ng teacher, ng school, na hangga't maaari, walang cellphone as loob ng klase. Hindi rin naman mahilig mag-cellphone 'yan, computer lang kasi ang hilig niya (The teacher, the school, prohibit the use of cellphones inside the classroom as much as possible. He also does not use his cellphone that much. He uses the computer more often)," the mother added.

The Quezon family has already coordinated with the police in their search for Bobby.
