Pelicans forward Herb Jones conducts youth clinic, graces newly-refurbished court in Bulacan

New Orleans Pelicans forward Herb Jones conducted a youth clinic and graced the ceremonial opening of a newly-refurbished basketball court at the Gawad Kalinga (GK) Enchanted Farm in Angat, Bulacan Monday, Aug. 22.

Jones, who was brought along by NBA Cares, participated in the league's activity as part of its 75th Live, Learn, or Play initiative in the hopes of creating more than 100 new centers during the entirety of the 2021-22 season.

In partnership with GK Community Development Foundation, Inc., the 23-year-old Jones helped in conducting a youth clinic for 30 boys and girls ages 18 and below alongside NBA Asia Associate Vice President of Basketball Operations Carlos Barroca.

The two also talked about the importance of having and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the essence of basketball not just in sports but also in life.

"I’m grateful to be part of the league’s efforts to give back to communities around the world through this court revitalization project in the Philippines," said Jones, who was the third NBA player to visit the country, following Gilas standout Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz and rising star Jalen Green of the Houston Rockets.

"This was a great opportunity to create memorable experiences for the youth and inspire them to play the game I love in a fun and safe environment."

The participants also joined in different agricultural activities such as vegetable gardening and plant propagation in the hopes of promoting sustainable farming, especially for the youth and its community members.

NBA Cares is the league's global social responsibility program which aims to address important social issues not only in the United States but the whole world.
