Las Piñas, Parañaque, Pasay suspend classes, work due to TS 'Florita'


The mayors in Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Pasay cities ordered the suspension of work and classes on Tuesday, Aug. 23, due to severe Tropical Storm "Florita."

The Las Piñas City Public Information Office (PIO) posted on Facebook the suspension of classes in all levels in public schools on Aug. 23 and 24.

Work in government offices was also suspended until Aug. 24.

Classes and offices in private schools and offices were left to the discretion of their officials, according to the post of Las Piñas PIO.

The Parañaque City government announced the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private school starting 1 p.m. of Aug. 23 up to 24 due to heavy rains brought about by Florita.

Mayor Eric Olivarez said work in City Hall was also suspended but frontline offices will remain open to provide services to the public.

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano met with members of the Disaster Risk and Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) to be on the alert to evacuate residents who will be affected by the flooding.

Rubiano also directed the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools in the city.

The mayors asked all residents to stay home for their safety.
