Gap Philippines brings back its ‘Recycle Your Blues’ campaign
When it comes to building a personal style, one should always have the staples in their closet. Things such as the little black dress, a crispy white shirt, and a trusty jacket are blank canvases and building blocks anyone can easily customize to suit their style. Another piece that should be present in their wardrobe is a good pair of denim pants. It is among the most versatile items that can go from day to night and from casual to formal. Plus, it is comfortable and durable, making them true fashion investments. Many of us love it so much that we have a collection of it in a variety of styles, washes, and silhouettes.

If you’re planning to have new denim additions to your closets and also want to free up some space, this clothing brand has the perfect initiative for you to join in. Gap Philippines brings back its “Recycle Your Blues” campaign with a mission of creating change for the entire planet at its core. Until Aug. 31, shoppers can donate an old pair of denim pants at select Gap stores, and in return, they will get 40 percent off on one regular-priced pair of jeans. Any pair of jeans will be accepted as long as it’s sanitized and reusable.
Through this sustainability effort, Gap Philippines was able to collect 755 pairs of jeans in just three days in 2019, which were given to children in shelters and impoverished communities. This year, the American clothing brand is working alongside Goodwill Philippines Inc., a non-profit civic organization committed to the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities (PWDs) and the disadvantaged through skill empowerment. Livelihood programs have been in place for years, most notably their upcycling program on donated old fabrics from donors around the metro.
This is not the first time Gap has put the effort into pushing for sustainability and helping others. With modern technology, the brand was able to launch its Washwell program, where denim pieces are made using at least 20 percent less water compared to conventional wash methods.
“447 Million liters of water have been saved ever since 2016 and the brand is well on its way to achieving the goal of a water-resilient supply chain by 2050,” the brand said in a statement.
The “Recycle Your Blues” campaign until Aug. 31 at the following Gap stores: Alabang Town Center, Glorietta 4, Shangri-la Mall, SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, Trinoma, and Abreeza in Davao.
