DOH says Covid-19 vaccines with extended shelf life 'safe, effective'

The Department of Health (DOH) assured the public that Covid-19 vaccines with extended shelf life are effective and safe.
“The government ensures that every vaccine that is injected with an extended shelf life has gone through studies, and is still safe and effective against Covid-19,” the DOH said in a public advisory on Tuesday, Aug. 23.
It noted that an evaluation on vaccines is being conducted before extending their shelf life.
“The process of extending shelf life goes through thorough stability studies,” the DOH.
The DOH issued the advisory after it received reports that some people are hesitant to take the vaccines because of the extension on the shelf life.
“There are those who are skeptical about the vaccines that are now given to the public, because of the extended shelf life that has not been changed on the label of each vial of the vaccine,” it said.
Almost 72.3 million Filipinos have already been fully-vaccinated as of Aug. 18, the DOH said.
Meanwhile, more than 17.3 million individuals have received their first booster dose and over 1.9 million have received their second booster shots, the DOH added.
