Mayor Gatchalian inspects Valenzuela City public school buildings

Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie "Wes" Gatchalian inspected Monday, Aug. 22, the facilities in three public schools to ensure the safe and orderly opening of the face-to-face classes for school year 2022-2023.

Gatchalian visited Roberta de Jesus Elementary School, Lawang Bato Elementary School, and Silvestre Lazaro Elementary School where he noted the restrooms in the facilities need full renovation.

The mayor also said he aims to provide the other needs of the students such as classrooms with additional equipment like televisions.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, Gatchalian urged the parents to have their children get vaccinated against Covid-19.

"Ngayong nagsisimula na ang ating school year at unti-unti tayong bumabalik sa face-to-face classes dapat po protektahan natin ang kalusugan ng ating mga anak (Now that the school year is starting, and we are gradually returning to the face-to-face classes, we must protect the health of our children)," Gatchalian said.

The city government said that there are a total of 146,517 kinder to high school students enrolled in the city's 68 public schools.
