VIGAN, Ilocos Sur -- Governor Jerry Singson issued executive Order No.18-2022 ordering the suspension of classes in all levels of public and private schools and work in public offices in the province of Ilocos Sur on Aug. 23 as a safety measure and to minimize the adverse effects of tropical storm ‘Florita.’
Singson said it is the policy of the State to uphold the people’s constitutional rights to life, health, safety and property and to promote the general welfare of its people at all times, especially during disasters and calamities.
He said strong winds and heavy downpour spawned by typhoon Florita are also felt in Ilocos Sur, and posing real threats to life and infrastructure.
He directed all departments directly involved in the provisions of critical emergency services and disaster risk reduction and management, particularly the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the local DRRMC, and the member offices of the PDRRMC.
All hospitals and health services shall, however, maintain their workforce to ensure continuity of the delivery of services to the public.
Suspension of work in private business establishments and offices shall be at the prerogative of their respective heads of offices.
All Local Government Units (LGUs) have been directed and ordered to evacuate people living in communities in identified hazard-prone areas and take necessary measures to ensure public safety.
