Cargo boat loaded with basic goods sinks in Albay


LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – A cargo boat loaded with sugar, rice, and flour capsized while about to leave the port of Pio Duran in Albay for Claveria, Masbate Monday, Aug 22.

A report from the Philippine Port Authority (PPA) said the incident happened at 11 a.m. at the southern portion of the port where MB Jal, owned by a woman from Claveria, sank due to strong waves generated by the “habagat” or southwest monsoon.

The cargo boat was also loaded with petroleum products, groceries, and agricultural products.

No casualty or injured was recorded and no oil leak was observed. Amount of damaged cargo is still to be determined.
