Barangay chairman shot dead in Lanao del Norte

ILIGAN CITY – A barangay chairman was gunned down in Barangay Mahayahay, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte Sunday, Aug. 21.

Police identified the victim as Rudi Bitangcor, 54, chairman of Barangay Mahayahay.

Witnesses said the victim was outside his house when he was shot by unidentified suspects who fled to an unknown direction.

Police received a call around 12:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 22, about the incident and saw the victim lying down with bullet wounds in different parts of the body.

Local police led by Police Lt. Ruel L. Rodriguez are conducting pursuit operations and are investigating the motive of the murder.

This is the fifth shooting incident in Lanao del Norte this month.
