PNP: All set for opening of face-to-face classes

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is prepared to ensure the safe and peaceful opening of face-to-face classes on Monday, August 22.

“It’s all systems go for the Philippine National Police for the resumption of the face-to-face classes,” Police Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba, chief of PNP public information office (PIO), said on Sunday, August 21.

Around 23,000 police personnel will be deployed nationwide as part of the PNP campaign “Ligtas Balik Eskwela 2022.”

Cops will be stationed outside the premises of schools and all academic institutions nationwide, Alba stated.

There will also be deployment in major terminals and other points of convergence to ensure peace and order during the first day of classes.

Police presence will also be beefed up through regular conduct of patrols and set-up of Police Assistance Desks (PADs) in strategic areas.

PNP stations were also told to coordinate with the Department of Education (DepEd) to address concerns pertaining to the safety and security of learners, teachers, and other school staff.

“We remind our dear parents and guardians to discuss with their children the do’s and don’ts when they are in school and exposed to different people,” Alba said.

“The PNP will ensure that the students, parents and teachers will be safe and secure as the new school year starts,” he added.

After a long break from in-person classes due to the Covid-19 pandemic, face-to-face learning will again be implemented nationwide as restrictions ease and cases were maintained at a manageable level.
