The Caloocan City government announced on Sunday, Aug. 21, that the Office of the City Building Official (OCBO) has inspected private school buildings in preparation for the resumption of face-to-face classes.
Engineeer Jay Bernardo, OCBO officer-in-charge, led the inspection of the University of the East-Caloocan, STI-Caloocan, World Citi College, and La Consolation College, following Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan’s order to check the buildings and determine their structural integrity.
The inspections started on Aug. 9, the city government said.
“Bilin po satin ni Mayor Along na tiyakin ang integridad ng mga imprastrakturang gagamitin ng mga mag-aaral lalo’t matagal po tayong walang face-to-face classes (Mayor Along ordered us to ensure the integrity of the infrastructures that students will use, especially since we have not had face-to-face classes for a long time),” Bernardo said.
“Sa ganitong paraan po, ayon sa ating alkalde, maiiwasan ang mga sakuna sakaling magkaroon ng kalamidad (This way, according to the mayor, disasters can be avoided in the event of a calamity),” he added.
Malapitan urged private school administrators to ensure the safety of their facilities.
“Sa pamunuan ng mga pribadong paaralan, maraming salamat po sa inyong pakikiisa at pagmamalasakit sa mga Batang Kankaloo. Nawa'y pagsumikapan natin na maging maaayos at ligtas ang darating na pasukan para sa ating mga anak (To the management of private schools, thank yo for your cooperation and concern for the Batang Kankaloo. May we strive to make the upcoming classes for our children smooth and safe),” Mayor Along said.
The city government said the OCBO will conduct additional inspection visits to cover most private schools in Caloocan.
It added that some of the colleges already started their online classes and are set to have their face-to-face classes in September.
