Caloocan gov't expresses concern over Pangarap Village road closure

Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan said on Saturday, Aug. 20, that the city government is concerned over the closure of a road in Pangarap Village that limited residents from going in and out of the area.

Residents of Barangays 181 and 182, which are inside the village, sought help from the city and national governments through social media posts after the only entrance and exit road of the village was closed on Friday, Aug. 19, by its land developer, Carmel Development Inc (CDI).

The city expressed concern to its residents as there are also two schools located inside the village.

“Lubos na ikinababahala ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Caloocan ang pagsasara ng kalsada papasok at palabas sa Pangarap Village (The City Government of Caloocan is greatly concerned about the closure of the entrance and exit road of Pangarap Village),” Malapitan said in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Saturday.

“Ang isinagawang pagsasara ng kalsada ng Carmel Development Inc. ay maglilimita sa publiko na makapunta sa mga pasilidad ng gobyerno na nasa loob ng Pangarap Village. Lubos din na pahihirapan ng aksyong ito ang pagpasok ng mga estudyante na nakatira sa labas ng Pangarap Village ngunit nakatakdang magsimula ang klase sa Pangarap Elementary School at Pangarap High School ngayong Lunes (The road closure done by the Carmel Development Inc. will limit the public's access to government facilities within the Pangarap Village. This action will also make it very difficult for students of Pangarap Elementary School and Pangarap High School who live outside Pangarap Village, whose classes are scheduled to start this Monday),” he added.

“Patuloy po ang pakikipag-ugnayan ng Pamahalaang Lungsod sa mga opisyales ng mga barangay na apektado upang tiyakin ang kaligtasan ng mga residente at matiyak na tuloy-tuloy ang serbisyo ng pamahalaan (The City Government continues to communicate with the officials of the affected barangays to ensure the safety of the residents and ensure that government services continue),” Malapitan said.

According to the local government, the city has set-up a response unit outside the village composed of personnel from the Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (DPSTM), Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO), and Caloocan City Police (CCPS).
