TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced Sunday, Aug. 21, that 4,580 distressed students in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) received educational assistance Saturday, Aug. 20.

The DSWD regional office said 1,370 are from Cagayan, Isabela, 861; Nueva Vizcaya, 1,090; Quirino, 1,256; and Batanes, three.
More than P11 million have been earmarked by the DSWD for the cash aid in Cagayan Valley.
The agency added that many have not yet received cash aid. But the DSWD said they have taken their requirements and will call them when the financial assistance is available.
The DSWD is studying the method of distribution after the chaos Saturday where many offices were swamped by applicants. One of them is collaboration with local government units.
