Renzio saves day as Omega denies winning debut to ECHO's second team

Renz “Renzio” Cadua rescued Omega Esports from a sure defeat in Game 2 to recover from an opening game hiccup and pull off a pulsating 2-1 reverse sweep against ECHO in the MPL Philippines Season 10 at the ICITE Auditorium in Libis, Quezon City on Thursday, Aug. 20.

Omega rode a frantic finish in the second game that could have ended the series for ECHO but Renzio’s Uranus managed to hold his ground against five heroes from the opposing side and hand his team the equalizer and eventually their second win in the season in three games.

A timely respawn from E2max’s Faramis also allowed Omega to still take down four ECHO heroes, leaving only 3mar to defend the base against the siege minions on the bottom lane and the Lord at the midlane.

He managed to buy some time, even killing Renzio’s Uranus who was hitting the base but was not enough as Ch4knu on the Grock and Raizen on the Thamuz got the job done, 17-14.

Banking on the momentum it got from the Game 2 win, Omega seized full control of the third game behind a perfect performance from Christian “Raizen” Sumagui with a 6-0-7 KDA on his jungle Baxia. E2max provided support with a 3-3-8 line on another Faramis game with a 3-3-8 line while Kelra after a 1-3 start recovered and wound up with a 3-3-8 line.

ECHO failed to take advantage of the masterful performance in Game 1 after totally outdrafting Omega. The MPL Season 9 runner-up overreacted to the Orca’s first pick Wanwan with Ling, Esmeralda and Phoveus in its first three picks on the red side of the draft.

Omega ended up with no burst damage dealer in its lineup much to the delight of Frediemar “3mar” Serafico on his Uranus which was totally unkillable in the opening series. With 3mar forcing Omega to exhaust all of its ultimate to kill him, Outplayed on the Wanwan and Kurtzy on the Julian spearheaded the counter engage to finish with 1-1-3 and 0-0-6 KDAs respectively.

ECHO drew the series first blood, 8-1, as 3mar showed the way with a neat 2-0-2 line.
