Silang, Cavite Mayor Kevin Anarna reminded the public on Saturday, Aug. 20, that they should not feel indebted to politicians whenever they are creating programs and initiatives for the improvement of their constituents' lives and the local government.
Anarna made the statement after receiving praises from the public due to the municipal government's initiative to give free school bags and school supplies to all public school students.
He stressed that all programs being launched by the municipality come from the taxes of its citizens.
"Wakasan na po natin ang kultura na dapat tanawin na utang na loob ang mga magagandang ginagawa ng mga pulitiko. Trabaho po namin ‘yan. Pinapasweldo kami ng taong-bayan. Nararapat lang po na pagsilbihan namin kayo ng may husay, galing, talino, at malasakit (Let's end the culture of feeling indebted to politicians who are doing good things for their respective constituents. This is our job and the people are the ones who are giving our salaries, that's why we must serve you all with skill, excellence, knowledge, and sincerity)," Anarna said in his Facebook post.
He then posted the schedule of the distribution of the school bags and school supplies to over 37,000 public school students of Silang on his Facebook page.
"Bahagya man pong naantala ang pamimigay ng school supplies ay dahil idinaan natin po ito sa tamang proseso at tamang bidding ng kanilang mga gamit (The distribution of the school supplies has been delayed because the municipal government went through the right procedures and bidding of the items)," the mayor said.
Anarna explained that they will first give schools bags and school supplies to all Day Care Centers in Silang, and then to students in the Kinder and Elementary levels.
The local chief first announced that they will provide all public school students in the municipality with school bags and other schooling needs on July 25.
