Iligan Light prepares schools for Monday opening

ILIGAN CITY – Iligan Light and Power Inc. (ILPI) addressed the electrical concerns of five schools here during the Brigada Eskwela of the Department of Education (DepEd) Friday, Aug. 19, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

ILPI prepared five schools for the opening of face-to-face classes Monday, Aug. 22 – Digkilaan Central School, National Power Corp. Elementary School (ES), Maria Cristina National High School, Sta. Filomena Central School, and Tambacan ES.

More than 80 employees were deployed to help in preparing them for Monday.

Human resources and administrative group officer Casa Belandres said ILPI strengthens its CSR as an avenue to give back to society, people, and consumers.

"This time we are committed to paint chairs, inspect connections for electrical safety, as well as vegetation clearing," said Belandres.

Digkilaan Central School Principal Philan D. Labrada said ILPI solved the school's low voltage electricity problem.

"I am very thankful that at last, one stakeholder, the ILPI, took this initiative and helped us in our electricity problem. And this is of great help now that we have this connection we were able to give environment conducive to our learners. And also this would mean great a lot in our community as well," said Labrada.

Labrada said they are ready for face-to-face classes Monday and 60 to 80 percent of their 498 learners have been vaccinated.

"But we will not discriminate those who are not yet vaccinated, we will admit them thus they need also to learn. And we will encourage them to have their vaccination also."

Brigada Eskwela coordinators from Napocor ES Maria Grace Sasuter and Tambacan ES Michaelyn A. Quiambao thanked ILPI for their help.

ILPI approached us to offer their help through Brigada, provided paints for desks and tables, and checked all electrical connections, said Quiambao.
