Zamboanga Covid-19 cases surge to 161

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The number of Covid-19 cases here surged to 161 as of July 30 this year, according to Zamboanga City Health Office (CHO) records. City Health Officer (CHO) Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite said the positivity rate also shot up to 10.1 percent from 5 percent in recent weeks. Of the 161 recorded cases, 159 were reported to be from the communities while two are Authorized Persons Outside of Residences (APOR). Half of the cases are asymptomatic while 37.3% are mild. The five barangays with the highest number of Covid-19 cases are Tetuan, 26; Sta. Maria, 15;  Guiwan, 14; Pasonanca, 9;  and Calarian, 7. In spite of the increase in number, the Zamboanga City Medical Center, Zamboanga City’s Covid referral facility, reported that 18 were admitted as Covid patients as of August 1. Last July 29,  25 Covid-19 patients were admitted. A third of the patients reportedly have severe symptoms, half are  moderate while the remaining patients are awaiting discharge. One patient is in critical condition and one is intubated but there were no recorded deaths.
