Vera on Moraes-Johnson rematch: I want to make sure I'm watching that fight live

There is no doubt in former ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera’s mind that fans are in for a treat when ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes takes on Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson once more. 

The highly anticipated rematch will happen at ONE Fight Night 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II on August 27 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.  

The Filipino-American superstar is having a hard time calling the fight between the two, but he noted that despite how calm Moraes is outside of the Circle, he’s still a real threat inside of it.  

“Man, I love DJ, but Moraes is a monster of a different breed,” Vera said.  

“DJ is one of the nicest people in the world. Moraes is even nicer than DJ. If we swing the other way, on the opposite side of the spectrum, that’s even how much of a monster he is than DJ.  

“The only way I can think about this in my head is like if I was reading a comic book. He’s such a nice guy, but he’s also much crazier than the incredible Hulk.”  

Moraes shocked the world last year as the Brazilian not only beat Johnson but did so in style, flattening the multi-time MMA World Champion with an uppercut before finishing him with a knee to hand “Mighty Mouse” the first stoppage loss of his career.  

Still, fans are clamoring for a rematch knowing that Johnson still has a lot to give. In fact, Vera stated that there’s no way in the world he’s going to miss this bout.  

“I don’t have a prediction. They’re both so good, I don’t know what’s going to happen. I just want to make sure I’m watching that fight live. I don’t know because they can do it on the feet, or on the ground. I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Vera said.  

“I bet it could start off as an amazing fight, and then all of a sudden, just turns into a grappling match, try to see who’s better than who. That would be really cool as well.”
