Saints snap Stags' hot streak to claim third seed, twice-to-beat edge in D-League
Adalem Construction-St. Clare doused the red-hot Apex Fuel-San Sebastian, 80-66, to secure the third seed and a twice-to-beat advantage in the 2022 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup playoffs on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

John Rojas and Johnsherick Estrada provided the one-two punch for the Saints as they leaned on a huge third quarter explosion to create the separation they managed to preserve until the final buzzer to snap the Stags’ five-game winning run and close out the eliminations with a 4-3 record.
Estrada unloaded all of his 19 points in the second half, 13 of which came in the third frame when St. Clare unleashed a searing 11-2 rally to build the first double-digit spread of the game at 11, 56-45 with 3:26 left in the third.
Rojas had an all-game brilliance of 20 points and seven rebounds while Joshua Fontanilla added 14 points and four assists.
Romel Calahat paced the Stags with 19 points and six rebounds while Jessie Sumoda chipped in 14 but were not enough to sustain their hot streak as they fell behind by as many as 16 points, 77-61 late in the payoff period. San Sebastian, despite the loss is already assured of a spot in the semifinals with its 5-2 record in the standings.
