Pia Wurtzbach sentimental as she goes back to Araneta City

Former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach got sentimental as she went back to Araneta City in Cubao, Quezon City for the 2022 Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant.

"Nostalgia all over So happy to be back after many years. Driving up to the KIA theater (where we were gonna shoot) and looking through the car window...seeing how everything looked familiar yet everything has changed," says Pia on Instagram.

"Every corner of Araneta reminded me so much of living there and working there. The journey wasn’t easy, but the life lessons you learn? Priceless. I’ll always be grateful for BPCI where I had some of the best years of my life," she adds.

Before Pia became Miss Universe, she joined the Bb. Pilipinas pageant three times. In her pageant journey, she also rented one of the condo units in Araneta City.

Pia stressed to this year's batch of Binibinis that sisterhood is important than the crown.

“Can you imagine being the winner but no girls congratulating you afterward, parang hindi sila happy for you at wala kang nabuong friendship?” says Pia.

The German-Filipino beauty queen adds: “That’s the reality. One year lang naman ang crown, ipapasa mo rin yan to another girl. Pero what can’t be taken away from you is the connections that you build!"

Pia also says: “I already had a prepared answer before, just in case I would be asked about my message to my co-candidates. Memorized ko pa! My message would be I want everyone’s phone number. I want to be in touch. I want to have their friendship because it can be lonely at the top!”
