The Philippines has been logging more than 3,000 Covid-19 cases per day, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday, August 2.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said an average of 3,541 cases have been recorded daily in the recent week.

"All areas are still at continuous uptrend," said Vergeire in a press briefing.

"Nationally, we remain at low risk case classification; NCR (National Capital Region) remains at moderate risk," she added.

The DOH's Covid-19 tracker, meanwhile, showed 2,646 new cases on Tuesday. This figure brought the total number of active Covid-19 cases nationwide to 32,099.

In the recent two weeks, Metro Manila recorded the most number of new cases at 14,821. It was followed by Calabarzon with 9,715; Central Luzon with 4,551; Western Visayas with 2,642; and Central Visayas with 2,022, as shown in the DOH Covid-19 tracker.

Vergeire said that Metro Manila's average daily attack rate (ADAR) is at 8.16 cases per 100,000 population.

The DOH is also monitoring nine regions: Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Davao Region as these areas logged an ADAR ranging from 1 to 1.26 cases per 100,000 population.

Despite the country’s low-risk case classification, Vergeire reminded the public to continue following the health and safety protocols.

“To maintain this status, let us continue adhering to our minimum public health standards and getting our vaccination coverage high through ‘PinasLakas,’’' said Vergeire.

Since 2020, the cumulative tally of Covid-19 cases in Philippines stood at 3,782,822, of which, 3,689,974 have recovered, while 60,749 died.
