New PPA AGM: Ignore top management vacuum

"Buckle down to work and ignore the current top management vacuum in the agency," newly appointed Assistant General Manager for Operations (AGMO) and Officer in Charge of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Atty. Francisquiel O. Mancile exhorted personnel Monday, Aug. 1, after attending his first-ever flag-raising ceremony at the agency.

Regardless of the "goings-on" on top, the public is expecting uninterrupted and high-level public service from the PPA, he told employees.

Mancile was appointed as PPA AGMO and sworn into office last week. He was port manager of the Port Management Office of Marinduque/Quezon before his appointment.

“The President has already spoken. He wants our port facilities and services at par with global standards and best practices and that we must do regardless of whoever sits as PPA General Manager,” Mancile stressed.

The new management is inheriting an agency that completed 248 port infrastructure projects in the last six years as well as a financially stable organization that remitted more than P20 billion in dividends from 2016-2021, the highest total recorded post-EDSA.

“We have a marching order from the Secretary of Transportation to lower logistics cost, and we have to deliver that as well,” he told employees.

“We need to work hard to deliver and fulfill that promise, through unparalleled public service.”

The PPA aims to maintain the high level of accomplishments in terms of port traffic and infrastructure from the previous administration, he underscored.
