The Muntinlupa City government will use public schools as vaccination sites to increase the number of booster shot recipients as part of the PinasLakas campaign of the Marcos administration.

Dr. Juancho Bunyi, head of the Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO), held a meeting with Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Carlene Sedillo to discuss the vaccination plan.

Bunyi told Manila Bulletin on Aug. 2 the vaccination drive is in line with the Marcos government’s goal in the first 100 days “to achieve booster count coverage of 50 percent of the population and 90 percent of senior citizens.”

He said there will be simultaneous vaccinations in different settings in Muntinlupa. The vaccination in schools will be held on Aug. 15, public markets on Aug. 30, and transportation areas on Sept. 26.

“Kailangan ma-accomplish natin in the 100 days yung sinasabing target na 50 percent and yung 90 percent (We need to accomplish in the first 100 days the targets of 50 percent and 90 percent),” he said.

These settings will be used to increase booster shot count in Muntinlupa, he said.

Bunyi said when face-to-face classes start, they are also planning to vaccinate eligible school children aged five to 11 and 12 to 17 years old.

Based on data from the Muntinlupa CHO, there are 514,776 fully vaccinated adults in Muntinlupa, or 116.33 percent of the target population of 442,517 (80 percent of the total population of 553,146).

Out of the total, 163,547 individuals have received their first booster shot, or 37 percent of the target population.

In addition, 21,156 adults have been vaccinated with the second booster shot in Muntinlupa.

Among 12 to 17 years old, 42,153 have been fully vaccinated, or 74.61 percent of the total population of 56,499 for the age group. Of the total, 3,594 have received their first booster shot.

There are also 17,734 fully vaccinated minors aged five to 11 in Muntinlupa, or 26 percent of the total population of 68,198.
