Furigay's executive assistant buried in Lamitan City

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The body of Rose Furigay’s executive assistant Victor Capistrano was laid to rest on Tuesday, August 2, at the Colonia cemetery in Lamitan city more than a week after he was killed at a Manila university last week.

A funeral mass attended by family members, relatives, and supporters was held at the Saint Peter Parish Church in Lamitan as part of interment rites.

Hundreds of residents then joined the funeral cortege to bring the slain executive assistant’s body to the Colonia Cemetery for burial.

Capistrano was a long- time executive assistant of Lamitan mayor Rose Furigay, who was shot dead inside Ateneo de Manila University along with the university’s security guard identified as Jeneven Bandiola.

Meanwhile, the Furigay’s body lies in state at the Furigay residence in Barangay Malinis after being brought to Lamitan City on board a Navy boat last Sunday, July 31.

Furigay, Capistrano and Ateneo de Manila security guard Jeneven Bandiola were shot and killed during Ateneo de Manila commencement exercises for law graduates last July 31.

Furigay’s daughter, Hannah Rose, was also wounded in the shooting incident allegedly executed by Furigay nemesis, Dr. Chao Tiao Yumol.
