Paranaque Rep. Olivarez distributes hospitalization assistance

Parañaque City's 1st District Rep. Edwin L. Olivarez distributed over 23 guarantee letters to constituents who sought financial assistance to defray the cost of hospitalization for their relatives and loved ones on Thursday, Aug. 18.

The guarantee letters were addressed to various public and private hospitals in Metro Manila as an assurance that Olivarez’s office will shoulder part of the hospital bills.

“We are happy to be able to help our constituents during their time of urgent need,” Olivarez said during the distribution held at the First Congressional District Office at the Parañaque City Hall.

The congressman said he is aware that the assistance his office is providing may not cover the patients’ entire hospital bill but any small amount can make a big difference especially for poor city residents.

Aside from the hospitalization assistance, Olivarez’s office also provides employment and job placement, burial, educational and scholarship, as well as emergency financial assistance to people in need.

The congressional district office, located at the 2nd floor of the City Hall, receives an average of 100 visitors seeking help on a daily basis and are attended to by a full-time office staff.

The assistance provided comes from the regular congressional office budget as well as from national agencies like the Department of Health, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Department of Labor and Employment, among others.
