Soldier dies as motorcycle rams tricycle in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – A soldier died when his motorcycle collided with a tricycle in Barangay Iglau-an, Murcia, Negros Occidental Wednesday, August 17.

Police identified the fatality as Christian Earl Pelongco, 38, of La Carlota City and a member of the 303rd Infantry Brigade (IB) based in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia.

Police Capt. Marc Joeil Reclamado, Murcia police chief, said Pelongco, who was on his way to work, was tailing a tricycle when it suddenly slowed down.

The victim crashed into the rear part of the tricycle. He sustained head injuries and was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

A passenger of the tricycle driven by Rodrigo Villamor was injured in the accident, according to the police.

Villamor is under police custody, pending the filing of case, or a possible settlement.
