P1.3 million shabu seized from dismantled drug den in Tacloban City


TACLOBAN CITY – About 200 grams of shabu worth P1.3 million were seized as authorities dismantled a drug den in Barangay 21-A here on Thursday, Aug. 18.

Rey March Macawile alias Verna Macawile, the alleged drug den maintainer, was arrested in the buy-bust operation jointly conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 8 and Tacloban City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit.

Police considered Macawile a high-value individual.

Also nabbed were Sherwin Mark Troyo, Jackie Morales, and Jay-r Ramillo Aco.

Col. Michael Palermo, Acting City Director, commended the police operatives for another successful operation and cited their commitment to the Philippine National Police’s campaign against illegal drugs.

Palermo encouraged the public to report any drug-related activity to the nearest police station.

Cases for violations of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 15, and 26 of Article II of the Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared for filing in the court against the arrested suspects.
