New La Union police chief takes over

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union â€“ A native of Benguet was appointed new chief of the La Union Provincial Police Office.

Police Col. Lambert Suerte assumed his post in a simple turnover ceremony led by Police Brig. Gen. Belli Tamayo, Police Regional Office 1 director, Wednesday, August 17, at the LUPPO headquarters in Camp Diego Silang here.

Suerte replaced Police Col. Jonathan Calixto who was appointed commander of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Regional Mobile Force Battalion.

Suerte and Calixto, from Besao, Mountain Province, were classmates in the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) "Kabalicat" Class of 1998.

Tamayo cited Calixto for his one year and five months of good service in La Union. He believes that Suerte will boost the projects, programs, and activities of the provincial police.

Calixto thanked LUPPO constituents, local chief executives, stakeholders, and citizens for their support during his tenure.

Suerte thanked the Philippine National Police (PNP) leadership for their trust and confidence given to him as the new leader of LUPPO and vowed to sincerely serve the people of La Union and implement the programs of chief PNP Police Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr.

La Union Gov. Raphaelle Veronica A. Ortega-David attended the event.
