Imee ditches 'Maid in Malacañang'-related trip due to Covid infection

Senator Imee Marcos has aborted her planned trip to Dubai this weekend after testing positive for Covid-19.

Marcos was scheduled to visit Dubai to greet her countrymen who will watch ‘’Maid in Malacañang’’ this coming Aug 19 to 20.

‘’Unfortunately, her RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test result yesterday is still positive so she was advised to continue quarantine and therefore cannot travel,’’ a statement from Viva Films said.

‘’We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused but the virus remains to be a real risk for global travel. The senator's medical team and Viva management deemed it safer to cancel her trip for the sake of her health and everybody that she will have close encounters with,’’ it added.

A total of four senators have contracted Covid-19 in the past two weeks.

Aside from Imee, Senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Cynthia Villar, and Grace Poe have also tested positive for the disease.
