The importance of breastfeeding and the protection of children’s rights was highlighted in the Child Development Workers (CDWs) in Emergencies during the Covid-19 and Breastfeeding Awareness Month Celebration held on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in the City of Malolos.
Breastfeeding advocate Lyn Sunshine G. Castro, wife of Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro, and the guest of honor, emphasized that breastfeeding is best for babies and for mothers as well.
"Gusto ko po talagang magpa-breastfeed dahil bukod sa mas masustansiya ito, mas matipid din po ito,” (I really wanted to breastfeed because apart from being nutritious, it's also more economical)," Castro said while sharing her experiences before 949 child development workers.
She added that breastfeeding also benefits the physical and mental health of mothers and strengthens the bond between mother and child.
Gov. Daniel R. Fernando also underscored the importance of breastfeeding and paid tribute to child development workers for instituting programs like the breastfeeding campaign and protection of children's rights.
The awarding ceremony for 2022 Mutya ng Buntis Season 6 and CDW Folk Dance Competition were also held on the same day wherein the winners received cash prizes, bouquets of flowers, plaques, and trophies.
