Vigan, Caoayan receive P3 M from Cebu City for earthquake rebuild

The city government of Cebu donated P3 million to the city of Vigan and the municipality of Caoayan, Ilocos Sur for the restoration of buildings affected by the magnitude-7 earthquake last month.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama was in Vigan City last Sunday, August 14, and personally turned over a check for P3 million to the recipients for the purpose.

Vigan Vice Mayor Randy Singson, city councilors, and City Administrator Roxane Villanueva, together with Mayor Germelina Goulart of Caoayan, received the amount at the Caoayan Municipal Hall.

COVID-FREE

Meanwhile, Vigan Mayor Jose “Bonito” Singson Jr. has tested negative for the Covid-19 virus.

In a Facebook advisory, the Vigan city government announced that Singson is Covid-free after completing seven days in isolation.

Singson reminded the people to stay safe and healthy and avoid Covid by following the minimum health standards.
