A 61-year-old public utility vehicle driver from Antipolo City, Rizal claimed his winning prize in Lotto 6/42 amounting to P11,530,659 on Aug. 3 at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Main Office in Mandaluyong City.
The lucky combination, drawn on July 23, was 17-11-23-21-05-25.
He is one of the two winners of the said lotto game, the other one is from Marikina City who is yet to claim his or her winnings of the same amount.
The new millionaire shared with PCSO that he used to earn P500 to P1,000 a day but when the prices of gasoline started to spike, almost all of his earnings were just spent on it instead of his family's needs.
"Payo ko lang sa mga kapwa ko tumatangkilik sa lotto, huwag lang sila mawawalan ng pag-asa. Halos lahat ng hirap naranasan ko na, napadpad kung saan saan upang mapaglaanan ang pangangailangan ng aking pamilya (My advice to others who are playing lotto is to never lose hope. I have experienced almost all kinds of hardships, I have been everywhere just to provide for my family)," he said.
According to him, the numbers that landed him in the jackpot were a combination of the birthdays of his family members.
The winner plans on saving his winnings for the future of his family, PCSO said.
Meanwhile, a mother from Iloilo City also claimed half of the P73,777,794.40 jackpot in Super Lotto 6/49 on July 25 at the PCSO Main Office.
She is one of the two winners of the said lotto game as per PCSO.
It was drawn on June 23 with the winning combination of 36-07-14-21-20-42.
"Ang plano ko lang dito sa pera ay itatabi ko ang perang ito para sa kinabukasan ng aking mga anak (I am planning to save this money for the future of my children)," said the winner who has been playing various lottery games for the past 20 years.
"Gusto kong pasalamatan ang PCSO, sa sarili ko ang PCSO ay ang huling pag asa ng mga Pilipino, hindi lang sila nag bigay pag asa sa akin para mabigyan ng magandang kinabukasan ang aking mga anak, nagbibigay din sila ng pag asa sa mga ibang tao lalo na sa medikal (I would like to thank PCSO. For me PCSO is the last hope of Filipinos, it not only gave me hope on bringing good future for my children but as well as brought light on other people, especially those with medical needs)," she added.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Aypa Robles encourages the public to continuously support PCSO’s projects and programs by patronizing the lotto and other PCSO games.
"Part of the money you spend in playing our lotto games goes directly to charity," Robles said.
All prizes exceeding P10,000 is subject to 20% tax under the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion Law, PCSO reminded.
Also, prizes not claimed within one year from the date of the draw shall be forfeited pursuant to Republic Act No. 1169.
