Romualdez, Leyte's 1st district congressman, was impressed by Tulfo's streamlining of processes in the DSWD, which led to the shortening of the waiting period for the availment of financial assistance to indigents from the usual three to five days, to just one day.

“I commend Sec. Tulfo for this remarkable feat of responsible governance. His efforts only prove that no amount of barriers in the bureaucracy can stop the will of a strong leadership seeking efficiency in government processes,” Romualdez said.

Tulfo, along with his Undersecretaries Niña Taduran and Jerico Javier, visited Romualdez at the House of Representatives in Quezon City where they held a meeting on Wednesday.

“This is especially important for services such as medical aid, where the element of time is of utmost importance. Sec. Tulfo recognizes this and has implemented measures to ensure that indigents receive the aid at a time they need it most,” the speaker.

According to Tulfo, the financial assistance covers medical, burial/funeral, transportation, educational, food, cash, and other suport.

“I congratulate Sec. Tulfo for assembling a competent team of DSWD officials who made this great milestone possible. Truly, if there’s a will, there’s a way,” Romualdez said, referring to the agency’s streamlining move for the sake of beneficiaries.

Joining them in the meeting were Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez, House Majority Leader Manuel Jose "Mannix" Dalipe, Iloilo Rep. Raul "Boboy" Tupas, Quezon Rep. David "Jay-jay" Suarez, and Alona Party-list Rep. Anna Marie Villaraza-Suarez.
