DOLE helps separated worker gets P480,000 back pay


After more than a year, a former accountant finally got his long-awaited back pay claim, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported today, Aug. 17.

In a statement, DOLE said “Rene” (not his real name) received a cheque worth ₱479,906.94 through its Single Entry Approach (SEnA) Program. It came with with his certificate of employment and BIR Form 2316.

The 58-year old claimant was an accountant for more than six years in a construction company. After several follow-ups on his back pay since his resignation in July 2021, he eventually sought the assistance of the DOLE-National Capital Region (NCR) through its Muntaparlas Field Office (MTPLFO) on June 22.

Through the electronic SEnA portal, the DOLE-NCR able to help the employee claim his last salary along with his indemnity pay, according to MTPLFO senior labor officer Genevieve M. De Guzman who facilitated the conciliation-mediation of both parties.

Both parties appeared on their first face-to-face conference and signed a quitclaim and release form in front of De Guzman.

De Guzman said the DOLE’s SEnA Program provides impartial, speedy, and accessible settlement procedure that helps both employers and employees settle disputes. (Jun Marcos Tadios)
