GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – A man died hours after hitting his head on the pavement during a fistfight in the middle of a drinking spree on Sunday, Aug. 14.
The General Trias City Police Station (CPS) identified the victim as Benjamin R. Campanero Jr, 52 years old.
Investigator-on-case Staff Sergeant Ernesto Angue Jr. told the Manila Bulletin that Campanero was drinking with the suspect, Albero C. Rada, at around 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Amid their drinking session, however, the two got into a heated argument that led to a fistfight. Campanero reportedly hit his head on the pavement.
Upon getting home at 6:50 p.m., Campanero experienced a severe headache and blood came out of his mouth and nose.
The victim's wife rushed him to the hospital but he died while receiving medical treatment at 11:00 p.m.
Authorities conducted a follow-up operation that led to the arrest of the suspect.
Rada is currently under the custody of General Trias CPS and is facing homicide charges.
