Curfew on minors implemented in Talisay city

CEBU CITY -- Minors in Talisay City, southern Cebu need to be at home from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

This after Talisay Mayor Samsam Gullas on Monday, August 15, signed an executive order enforcing a curfew on minors in preparation for the resumption of face-to-face classes.

“ issued an EO (executive order) for the city to implement a curfew for minors aged 17 years old and below from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. effective immediately,” said Mayor Gullas.

“We decided to issue this EO because our face-to-face classes will be starting and it will be a good way to kick off our face to face classes,” added Gullas.

“Minors now, especially after being unable to go to school in two years, should concentrate on face-to-face classes. Classes should be the priority now,” stressed Gullas.

Gullas said the imposition of curfew was requested by the barangay captains in a recent meeting.

Gullas instructed barangay officials, the police and traffic personnel to ensure the strict enforcement of the curfew.

Gullas emphasized that the curfew will only apply for minors.

“Economy and night life must go on. People should go out, night life is good for the economy. But let’s just concentrate on our minors as we get ready to start face-to-face classes,” Gullas said.

A report by the Talisay City Police Station showed that 73 minors were rescued during the first day of the curfew’s enforcement.

The rescued minors were brought to the city’s Gender and Development Focal for profiling before they were turned over to their respective barangays
