Close contacts of PH's 1st monkeypox case asymptomatic, to be discharged from quarantine — DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) said that all 10 close contacts of the country's first monkeypox case showed no symptoms and will be discharged from quarantine soon.
DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the 10 individuals are set to finish their quarantine on Tuesday, Aug. 16.
"These 10 close contacts...nobody exhibited symptoms related to monkeypox. They were all quarantined. Their last day of quarantine is today, Aug. 16," said Vergeire during a press briefing on Tuesday.
"Tomorrow (Aug. 17), they will be checked by our physicians para po maiclear na slla (so they can be cleared) and they can be discharged from quarantine already," she added.
Last July 29, the DOH confirmed the country's first monkeypox case, involving a 31-year-old Filipino national who arrived from abroad last July 19. This person had “prior travel to countries with documented monkeypox cases,” said DOH Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary for Public Health Services Team Beverly Ho at that time.
On Aug. 8, the DOH reported that the first monkeypox case had already recovered and was “cleared by a physician to be discharged from isolation.” This person completed the 21-day isolation period last Aug. 5.
