UP College of Human Kinetics Dean Francis Diaz confirmed the news of the Delos Santos’ appointment Monday.

The UP women’s volleyball team also confirmed the appointment and welcomed Delos Santos, a former national women’s team coach.

“The UP Women’s Volleyball Team would like to welcome Coach Shaq Delos Santos as our new head coach! Coach Shaq has coached numerous teams, collegiate and professional and was also a national player himself,” the post read.

Delos Santos recently steered the HD Spikers to a second straight third place effort in the PVL Invitational, succeeding Godfrey Okumu, who resigned last July 31.

Diaz said Delos Santos would be joined in the coaching staff that included team consultant and team mom Mozzy Ravena.

Delos Santos last served as coach in college for Far Eastern University, a team he steered to three Final Four appearances from 2014 to 2017 before he focused on the national squad.

He won a UAAP title for University of Santo Tomas in 2009.
