The council was awarded for its "commitment to building a better world through local high-impact innovations" and honest leadership and service.

All SK finalists underwent a thorough screening, evaluation, and validation process organized by the Positive Youth Development Network, Galing Pook and GoodGov PH.

"After a three-tier screening process, we're proud to announce the National Finalists for the first-ever search for Outstanding SK Councils in the Philippines," PSKA said.

The councils were evaluated based on three pillars: participation, transparency and accountability, and effectiveness and efficiency.

Councils that passed the process were given the Seal of Good Youth Governance (SGYG) developed by GoodGov PH.

Three-level panel interviews were also conducted to determine the selection of winners.

Out of 42,000 SKs all over the country, around 300 registered for the awards.

Twenty-two councils made the cut for the national finals. Out of the 20, 10 were chosen as the top outstanding SKs in the country.

"Sana ay patuloy kayo maglingkod ng tapat at ng mahusay (I hope you continue serving honestly and efficiently)," said Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto to the SK Maybunga members during Monday's flag-raising ceremony.

He also reminded barangay officials to cooperate with SKs in their respective areas and to give them autonomy in fulfilling their own programs and projects.

"Doon po lalabas ang galing, talino, at kahusayan ng ating mga SK (That is where the merits, intelligence, and skills of our SKs will shine and thrive)," he added.

Sotto assured that SKs in Pasig City have the full support of the local government.

In a celebratory Facebook post, SK Maybunga expressed its gratitude for the opportunity to serve their community.

"Ang parangal na ito ay para sa bawat kabataang Maybungueño na naniwala, nagtiwala, at naging bahagi ng aming panunungkulan bilang Sangguniang Kabataan. Asahan niyo po na sa nalalabi pa nating mga buwan ng panunungkulan ay patuloy tayong magseserbisyo at magbibigay ng kapaki-pakinabang na programa para sa ating mga kabataan (This honor is for every young Maybungueño who believed and trusted in us, and were a part of our journey as a youth council. Rest assured that in the coming months of our term, we will continue to serve and provide worthwhile programs for the youth)," the council said.

The 3rd Philippine SK Awards was held on Friday, Aug. 12, at Boracay Newcoast in Malay, Aklan during International Youth Day (IYD).
