'Habagat', thunderstorms may bring rain showers across most of PH

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat” may prevail over most of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, Aug. 15.
PAGASA said that Metro Manila, Bataan, Zambales, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Bicol Region, and Visayas may have cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to “moderate to at times heavy rains” in these areas.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the habagat and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to stay vigilant as flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
