MB Daily News Update: DA official's resignation won't stop Palace probe on aborted sugar importation

For Malacañang, the investigation into the allegedly unauthorized importation of 300,000 metric tons of sugar should not stop with the resignation of the Department of Agriculture (DA) official reportedly responsible for the aborted importation.

And the House Committee on Public Accountancy and Good Governance will also be holding its own investigation to ferret out the truth behind the sugar importation fiasco.

Taal Volcano continues to be restive as the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) keeps the area under Alert Level 1.

And as recent heavy rains have resulted in massive flooding in many parts of the country, the Department of Health (DOH) warned the public anew against contracting leptospirosis.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila has gone down to 16.4 percent, according to an OCTA Research Group fellow.
