Drunk bus conductor drowns in Pangasinan beach

AGNO, Pangasinan – A 48-year-old bus conductor drowned in a beach in Sitio Abagatanen, Barangay Macaboboni here, Saturday, August 13.

Police identified the victim as Raymundo dela Torre Jr. of Angono, Rizal.

Investigation showed that at about 5:50 p.m. Saturday, a Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office employee, Abel Christian Nodesca, called local police that a man drowned in a beach in Barangay Macaboboni.

Police and MDRRMO responded and rescued the victim at about 7:50 p.m.

MDRRMO personnel applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the victim but failed to revive him. Dela Torre was taken to the Rural Health Unit where he was declared dead by Dr. Joseph Lopez.

Police gathered from beachgoers that Dela Torre went swimming despite being under the influence of liquor.

The incident prompted authorities again to remind beachgoers that “don’t drink and dive” for safety.
