Advisory: Kennon Road still closed to motorists due to landslide threats

BAGUIO CITY – Due to the continuous heavy rains brought by Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), Kennon Road has remained closed since Saturday, August 13.

In the advisory issued by the Department of Public Works and Highway-Cordillera at 4:00 p.m. on August 14, motorists are advised not to take Kennon Road due to the threat of landslides or falling rocks caused by the heavy downpour.

Kennon road is the shortest way going to the Summer Capital.

All motorists are advised that the Marcos Highway, Naguilian Road, Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascal Road, exiting and entering Baguio City and other major roads in the Cordillera are passable.

Only residents along Kennon road are allowed to pass.

Some of the DPWH personnel are also on standby in the area to speed up the clearing operations when landslides occur.
