Ex-vice mayor gunned down in Batangas

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna – A former vice mayor was shot dead Thursday, August 11, in Sitio Cupang, Barangay Tayuman, Lobo, Batangas.

Police Capt. Roy Cuevas, Lobo police chief, identified the victim as Romeo Sulit, 61, vice mayor of Lobo from 1998 to 2010.

He was the secretary of the Sangguniang Bayan at the time of his murder.

The victim was giving a message in a debut party at 8 p.m. when a man appeared and shot him in the head.

Witnesses said the shooter was wearing agreen jacket, black short pants, and a hat.

The suspect fled while Sulit died while under treatment at the Lobo District Hosptal.

The Lobo police is still determining the motive of the killing.
