PCUP mounts mini caravan in Negros Occidental

As part of its goal to bring the government closer to the people, the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) launched a mini caravan in Bago City, Negros Occidental on Friday, Aug. 12.

The initiative serves as an all-inclusive caravan of services, aiming to bring fast and timely services to the urban poor communities in the Philippines.

In order to fulfill this vision, PCUP partnered with more than 10 agencies to offer services including, but not limited to, medical and dental check ups, scholarship programs, business registration, local and international job fair, as well as distribution of free medicine and food packs to those in need.

Among these agencies were the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA), Procter & Gamble Company, and Social Security System (SSS).

“Unti-unti nang dinadagsa ng mga residente ng Barangay Poblacion, Bago City ang isinasagawang mini caravan. Inaasahan na makikinabang sa pinagsama-samang serbisyo ng iba’t-ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan at ilang pribadong sektor ang mga nasabing residente (The residents of Barangay Poblacion, Bago City are gradually flocking to the mini caravan. The said residents are expected to benefit from the integrated services provided by various government agencies and private sectors),” said PCUP.

To ensure the safety of the residents amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, PCUP held a series of preparatory meetings to discuss the guidelines of the said program, focusing on the observance of health protocols.

The caravan was mounted in Manuel Y. Torres Coliseum and Cultural Center.
