House deputy majority leader Rep. Suarez leads payout for Lucena City indigents
LUCENA CITY, Quezon -- Some 490 indigent residents here received financial aid under the Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS) initiated by Quezon Second District Representative David C. Suarez on Friday, August 12, at Punzalan Gymnasium here.

Rep. Suarez, the House Deputy Majority leader, and Alona Partylist, were assisted by barangay chairman Edward Sy Bang, barangay kagawad and the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the cash-giving to qualified recipients who passed the validation.
The amounts extended depended on the recipients’ necessities. Some got cash gifts according to educational, medical, hospitalization, burial and other relief assistance.
Suarez said that his district office with the national government will work closely, bringing the social services programs to the level of barangays in the Quezon 2nd District and in Lucena City as well.
The AICS is a social safety net or a stop-gap mechanism to support the recovery of individuals and families from unexpected crises such as illness or death of a family member, and other crisis situations.
The Crisis Intervention Unit is a special unit operating as an action center to immediately respond to cases of individuals and families in crisis situations.
It provides integrated services such as immediate rescue and protection, provision of direct financial and material assistance, augmentation during disaster and referrals for immediate medical, legal, psycho-social services.
Suarez, also a vice chairman on the House committee on appropriation, said he will make sure that there is a budget allocation for the said purpose not only for Quezon but also for the whole country.
