Go, Padilla lead distribution of financial aid to tricycle drivers in Southern Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY – Senators Christopher Bong Go and Robinhood Padilla led the distribution of P3,000 financial aid to beneficiaries on Thursday, August 11 at Combado Gymnasium in Maasim City.

At least 300 drivers initially received assistance under the Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

They also received vitamins, basketballs, volleyballs, 10 bicycles, cellphones, watches, and other gadgets from Senator Go.

"We are here to help you. We want to leave smiles and happiness to you. Do not thank us. Instead, we should thank you because we came from the province but you have given us the privilege to serve you," Go told the drivers.

Go expressed happiness that the province is slowly recovering from the destruction brought by Typhoon Odette' in December 2021.

He urged the drivers to get vaccinated against Covid-19 and have their booster shots for their protection and their passengers as well.

Padilla, who spent his Christmas and New Year in Southern Leyte during the aftermath of 'Odette,' also expressed gratitude that he was able to go back to the province and thank the people for making him Number 1 in the recent senatorial race.

Meanwhile, Jhade Bestudio, the City Social Welfare and Development Officer said 950 more drivers are set to receive aid from the department.
